Kyoo Choix studied sociology when he lived in Korea, driven by the desire to understand why there are so many problems in his society. Coming to France to broaden his horizons to another world, he discovered a deeper desire to know who he is and what he wants to do. Reading proved to be difficult for him, hindering his comprehension of the meaning. To overcome this obstacle, he built his linguistic archives in the manner of a silkworm's work, constructing his cocoon, destroying it, and then restarting the process. His new life in a foreign language gradually led him towards art. Becoming a visual artist, he wrote his thesis entitled "Art of Archives, Archives of Art: Construction of Knowledge, Artwork, and Self," which explores his creative process. As a researcher, artist, and curator, he organizes artistic and academic projects between Korea and France. His recent participation includes exhibitions organized by Combine Works in Seoul, Arts Éphémères in Marseille, the gallery Jean des Montagnes in Bard-le-Régulier, and the Zervos Foundation in Vézelay.
Kyoo Choix was born in Seoul and studied sociology with an intention to change the society. Kyoo Choix came to Paris a little by chance in 2005 and was able to start art again also a little by chance. Perhaps this person has found a calling from childhood. Kyoo Choix has been working as a visual artist since 2014. The way of working of this artist is to build something from almost nothing. Like a silkworm, the work of this artist is a reconstruction towards its body. This little worm becomes a chrysalis and then it comes out. Kyoo Choix obtained a master's degree in plastic arts at the University Paris 8 in 2014 and will complete the thesis entitled "Art of archives, archives of art: construction of knowledge, of the art work and of self” in 2022. Kyoo Choix currently resides in Ateliers Daguerre in Paris: http://lesateliersdaguerre.fr/kyoo-choix Kyoo Choix has organized with Eric Bonnet several artistic and academic projects between Korea and France since 2017.
